Specifcation

The SM26 is a deep-diving, mid-sized 24-passenger submarine designed with reliability, ease of maintenance, and transportability in mind.

Adhering to the Det Norske Veritas (DnV) rules for submersible vehicles, it can dive to a depth of 100 metres (327 feet) in complete safety.

The submarine features a cylindrical pressure hull with hemispherical ends, divided into three compartments: pilot compartment, passenger compartment, and machinery compartment.
The passenger compartment is equipped with 12 large viewports (600mm diameter) offering everyone a panaromic view of the underwater world.

Propulsion is provided by two main thruster units, a lateral thruster and a vertical thruster, ensuring precise maneuvering controlled by a single joystick.

The electrical system is battery-powered, with 248 vdc and 24vdc battery packs powering the primary equipment and auxiliary systems. The soft ballast (air ballast) system and hard ballast (water ballast) system work together to control buoyancy and maintain stability during dives.

Safety is a top priority, with features that include a built-in breathing system for all passengers and crew, a jettisonable drop weight, emergency underwater communications, and a surface marker location buoy. The submarine is also equipped with numerous alarms and monitoring systems, ensuring the submarine's optimal performance and the safety of all passengers and crew.
